Attracting High Potentials Using Mobile
In today’s mobile world, offering a job portal that is only accessible on desktop is not sufficient to catch worldwide talents. For this reason, a global financial company wanted to innovate beyond their existing desktop e-recruiting site. A mobile version would help to better attract qualified employees to fill all vacant positions. This would enable the company to be the first financial company to communicate with potential future employees using mobile devices. It was already possible to search for jobs worldwide using mobile devices. Submitting applications, however, was not yet possible. The financial services company wanted to adapt the organizational units’ different e-recruiting processes, which were running on different software solutions. This would allow a company-wide comparison of applicants. An integrated global talent pool for both internal and external applicants would enhance and harmonize the e-recruiting process at the company. The company approached SAP UX Design Services to design a standard service for their mobile portal as they considered SAP’s applications to be the most appropriate for complex and multinational implementations.
Offering Quick Applications
To meet both the company’s and the users’ demands, customer-specific features had to be defined and developed. One mobile feature that is important to the customer is “Hot Jobs”. This allows candidates to submit a one-click application to special job positions without a cover letter, resume, or work certificates. This is subject to the candidate already being registered and having completed a profile displaying information such as name, address, education, and work experience. The required documents can be uploaded at a later point of time by using a desktop device. The global mobile job portal offers high flexibility in terms of country-specific adjustments to languages and extended question forms, which allow the applicants to submit detailed information. Onsite the SAP team created prototypes of the desired functions and presented them to the company’s management team to test the look and feel. As the design fitted the company’s branding, the SAP UX Design Services team soon after implemented the SAP E-Recruiting solution based on SAP UI5, a platform independent technology.
Simplifying the Recruiting Process
The globally implemented mobile E-Recruiting site shortens the duration of the E-Recruiting process by 50%. It allows data acquisition as well as historical data retrieval. The easy-to-use mobile solution meets both recruiter and applicant requirements. It enables the financial services company to be the first to communicate with potential future employees via mobile devices, and increases the transparency of the recruiting. Applicants have an overview of job advertisements as well as their application’s status. Recruiters can quickly compare and identify promising candidates both internally and externally. Also, the consistent layout ensures high visibility and supports the customer branding. Based on the positive experience with SAP UX Design Services and impressed by the solution, the company has also decided to renew their desktop E-Recruiting site. The service offered by SAP UX Design Services has continued to operate effectively, as evidenced in the recognition that the customer has received. The financial services company’s mobile recruiting system has been recognized in an Asian and European employer attractiveness study. It ranks more than 100 employers per country and region according to their online talent communication. The customer was awarded second place in the European ranking for catering to job applicants’ changing communication behavior.
