Developed in partnership with the German National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) in Heidelberg the Medical Research Insights solution enables doctors and researchers to securely analyze clinical data to accelerate cancer research and to facilitate matching patients with the best clinical trials. The tool gives instant access to clinical information from multiple sources for comprehensive cancer care and allows visualizing and analyzing complex data sets in real-time.

In addition, the joint solution offers a holistic overview of each individual patient’s medical history in a graphical timeline to support medical staff during patient visits. Formerly named Patient Data Explorer, the solution is designed for different roles. It replaces time-consuming and manual processes, streamlines workflows and increases the efficiency among medical teams. It is customizable for different cancer centers and hospitals enabling them to improve the accuracy of diagnoses and facilitate matching patients with the best clinical trials.

The Patient Data Explorer, now called Medical Research Insights solution was one of two SAP projects recognized by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, as “inspiring collaborations.” It received a Strategy & Research Professional Notable for the Core77 Design Awards. It was also presented the SAP HANA Innovation Award in the category “Social Hero Innovator.”

The jury session of the German Design Award 2015 will be held in August 2014, with the ceremony following in March 2015. As the German Design Award aims to identify and honor outstanding design, the evaluation is not restricted to the jury. For the Public’s Choice prize all design enthusiasts can vote.
