The UX Magazine’s 2014 Design for Experience Award announced the SAP AppHaus Heidelberg as winner under the category “Experience Design Strategy”!
The UX Magazine is a free community resource exploring all facets of experience design. They work closely with practitioners and industry leaders versed in all areas of UX to provide a steady stream of engaging and useful content.
Building upon a history of creative environments, the SAP AppHaus in Heidelberg is SAP’s first “customer facing” co-innovation space in which customers, SAP, and users collaboratively work on projects. Since 2010, SAP has renovated offices worldwide to foster teamwork and collaboration, and several SAP AppHauses were established to co-locate internal software development teams to explore new consumer “apps” (hence the name). The AppHaus concept is inspired by the Bauhaus movement, emphasizing different disciplines working together in one building and leverages the psychology of space to help create environments where innovation & collaboration occurs spontaneously through hands-on prototyping & experimentation. The SAP AppHaus Heidelberg is run by the Design and Co-Innovation Center, a team in SAP SE that provides UX Design Services to SAP customers.
This creative space is where SAP runs customer workshops and co-innovation projects centered on innovation and design. Located in a historic red brick building in the Landfried complex, a former tobacco factory from the 1800s, the AppHaus is conveniently located near the center of historic Heidelberg as well as an easy drive from SAP’s headquarters in Walldorf.
The UX magazine presented the winners of the 2014 Design for Experience awards and the SAP AppHaus Heidelberg is one of them. This award considers people and organizations who are doing vanguard work in the field of experience design.
