Hey there! 🙂
Is there a way to restrict the responsive design in a UI5 FIORI application?
We run a FIORI App (Standalone, Version 1.52.9) on a Samsung presentation monitor with the software “MagicInfo” (based on Linux System “TIZEN OS”). This monitor hangs in a warehouse and displays information from the SAP backend.
You can set in this software which URL should be displayed. And EVERY website is displayed as a normal desktop version – only the FIORI app is in the mobile version (I do not know why. I assume this will be Samsung’s own browser from Tizen OS, but why then all other websites appear normal? No idea.).
This is a 55″ 1920x1080px monitor, and the FIORI App looks like it is on the iPhone (Blocklayout, 3 cells per row should be displayed – instead, as on the mobile phone, only 1 cell is displayed per row).
I would like to have the desktop view always an on every device. This application runs exclusively on this one monitor, it does not matter if it is not responsive.
Has anyone got an idea? In the manifest.json, “Tablet” and “Phone” were already deselected, any attempt to camouflage me as a desktop site failed.
P.S.: Yes I know, using a responsive technology like UI5 and then turning off this feature is not the easiest way 🙂
Unfortunately, we’re not familiar with this specific setup and software you are using. I cannot recognize this is running in a browser supported by SAP.
It seems this setup is taking the wrong user agent, i.e. assumes it is running on a mobile device? Usually with browsers you can switch the user agent, e.g. in Chrome Developer tools F12 -> Network -> Menu: More tools -> Network conditions -> User agent = ‘Chrome — Windows’ to pick a desktop user agent.
Thank you for your answer!
I know that the browser is not officially supported – but that’s actually not relevant to my question. I do not blame SAP for that 🙂
I only ask for help if there is a possibility that I can redirect that already in the programming, because unfortunately I have no possibility to change the userAgent in the developer tools. This display is remote controlled. The customer just insert an URL in an input-field of this software – and the screen is showing this website.
