Usability Testing at UKISUG Connect 2018

Date: 11 – 13 November 2018
Location: Hall 6
Venue: International Convention Centre, Birmingham, United Kingdom

What happens during a usability test?

Understanding your needs and the way you work, helps ensure that we build software that is right for your business. During these one-on-one 60 minute sessions you can usability test new and existing software and give your feedback directly to the product teams that build them. It’s a great opportunity to work directly with SAP to help shape the future of SAP products.

Which participant role should I choose?

When you register you will get the option to pick a role as a tester or an observer. A tester actively tests the application while the observer watches the tester navigate through the session. The observer must still be capable of testing the solution as well since roles may be switched onsite. Regardless of the role you choose, feedback from both participants will be collected from the product team. If only one role is available for a given date or time, that means the other role has already been taken.

How many sessions can I sign up for?

We ask that you limit yourself to no more than four sessions to allow other attendees the chance to participate. If product teams need additional information from you in order to qualify your registration for their topic, they will contact you within five business days of your registration.

Why should I sign up now for usability testing instead of waiting until I arrive onsite?

Because choice topics and times fill up quickly. It’s always better to reserve your spot and let us know if you need to change or cancel it. If you wait until you are onsite, you run the risk of the topic being full. Also, if you take too long to register, you might have to wait on-site to see if a spot opens up, so book early. If you do decide to sign up on-site please stop by our Usability Test Center Registration Desk (Hall 6) and we’ll show you the topics and times that are still available.

If you have any questions about registration or usability testing in general, please send an e-mail to usability.testcenter@sap.com.

Topic 1: A Holistic UX Concept for SAP HANA Data Management Suite

SAP HANA Data Management Suite enables secure, governed, enterprise-class applications and analytics by providing an open, hybrid, and multicloud-enabled solution suite that orchestrates all the data you need into a trusted, unified landscape. Help us create a holistic user experience (UX) concept that provides the best possible experience across all different components for SAP HANA Data Management Suite.

Description Nowadays, most enterprises store data in 6 to 8 clouds. Data has become less accessible, and companies’ understanding of their customers, suppliers, and products has declined. Legal risks and the difficulty of operating data science are the results.

Therefore, businesses need more trusted data, more connected and intelligent data, and more cloud and architecture flexibility. They also need to provide all users with the right information in context at the right moment for the task at hand. What’s more, they need to harness the power of all their data – business and new data types – and to anticipate and influence business outcomes. Meanwhile, business users need to have all the data relevant to their decision and to trust the security and accuracy of their data.

SAP HANA Data Management Suite enables secure, governed, enterprise-class applications and analytics by providing an open, hybrid, and multicloud-enabled solution suite that orchestrates all the data you need into a trusted, unified landscape – thereby reducing complexity.

Role/s
  • Developer working with the SAP HANA platform and SAP Enterprise Architecture (EA) Designer Web application
  • SAP HANA and SAP EA Designer architect
  •  Data scientist
Previous Experience Experience in SAP EA Designer or SAP Web IDE
Preview In the usability tests, we ask you to perform various tasks and to give us feedback about the usability of the tools. Special interest is the modelling part, but feedback about other areas is also very welcome.
Background Information The Intelligent Enterprise features three key components: the digital platform, intelligent technologies, and the intelligent suite.

As part of the digital platform, SAP HANA Data Management Suite is one pillar of the Intelligent Enterprise.

Topic 2: Display Accounting Impact – New Ways to Analyze the G/L Impact of Selected Business Transactions

Come experience how SAP software for displaying the G/L impact of selected business transactions and related applications for displaying document flows can help your analysts better identify discrepancies in G/L postings and help us shape the future of the SAP S/4HANA Finance solution.

Description Sets of T-accounts are typically used by accountants to analyze how individual line items from different journal entries affect account balances.

The double-entry bookkeeping principle (where every account posting has its contra-account posting) is an inherent error-correction mechanism, as the single error creates an imbalance that is easily spotted on the resulting balances.

SAP software for displaying accounting impact is a reporting and analytical tool that helps accountants to better understand the impact of a selected set of accounting documents that are typically related (for example, originating from the same business process).

Role/s
  • Financial analysts
  • Controllers
  • G/L accountants
Previous Experience
  • No special previous experience is required to participate.
  • Ideally, knowledge of basic SAP Fiori UX interaction patterns is a plus.
Preview In the usability tests, we walk you through a scenario where you are provided with specific business transactions in a display document flow application from which you will be able to drill down into the display accounting impact software. This will help you to better understand the impact of the documents displayed in the flow on the general ledger.
Background Information Display accounting impact is a pilot application utilizing the T-account visualization control introduced in SAPUI5 v1.58. The application is scheduled to be released in Q1 and Q2 of 2019.

Topic 3: New BI Launchpad Based on SAP Fiori – BI Launchpad Enhancements and BI Workspace for SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.3

Discover how to access and manage business intelligence (BI) reports using our new BI launchpad based on the SAP Fiori UX. The BI launchpad is entirely reshaped, simplified, and modernized based on SAP Fiori 2.0.

Description We have completely reimagined the existing BI launchpad to give a delightful and intuitive experience to business users. We identified key user challenges in the BI launchpad and simplified the overall experience.

The BI launchpad is the central repository for managing, viewing, and sharing BI documents. You can access all types of documents (from SAP Crystal Reports offerings, SAP Lumira software, SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence software, PDF, Excel, and more) from this one place. We have used SAP Fiori 2.0 design principles to redesign the launchpad.

With the new BI launchpad, you can completely customize the home page based on your preferences. We are reintroducing a new BI workspace that can help you manage, understand, monitor, and track your business activities and performance. You can now easily incorporate existing content in applications, such as SAP Crystal Reports, SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence, and dashboard models. Users can create their own application views, while retaining administrative control.

Role/s
  • Business users (such as decision-makers, information consumers, managers, sales professionals, and others) who work and interact with BI reports and dashboards in light analytical tools
  • Business analysts who create and develop information content such as reports and dashboards for business users
Previous Experience
  • Accessing, managing, and viewing BI reports on a daily basis
  • Working with BI software
  • Working with the existing BI launchpad and SAP BusinessObjects BI platform a plus
Preview You will test the new interaction patterns of accessing BI reports, and the new BI workspace in the new BI launchpad. A comprehensive end-to-end walk-through will allow you to explore the launchpad, set your preferences, view and create a BI workspace, choose relevant templates, navigate through the modules, play with visualizations, and get the feel of a simplified BI workspace.
Background Information The new SAP Fiori-based BI launchpad (formerly called InfoView) is part of the SAP BusinessObjects 4.x release. It makes use of your Web browser and opens the way to use different deployed objects created with SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise solutions, such as SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence, SAP Lumira, and SAP Crystal Reports documents.

The BI workspace allows you to organize and display different BI platform data sources, such as SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence documents, hyperlinks, SAP Crystal Reports, non-visual modules, or external pages such as Web pages through a URL, in a single view.
