German Version

Selection elements are

  • Radiobuttons
  • Checkboxes
  • Dropdown listboxes

Individual Selection Elements

Rules

  1. Use easily understandable labels in nominal phrases for selection elements. Do not use punctuation at the end of the label.
(If changing the label would be an improvement for all other SAP applications, change it in the ABAP Dictionary. Note that changes to the length of the label may affect translation.)
  2. Position the label of a checkbox or radiobutton to the right of the field. Position the label of a dropdown listbox to the left of the selection list.
  3. If the label is not sufficient, use an instruction or hint in addition to the label. Use complete sentences.
  4. Align instructions and hints along left margin above the selection element.
  5. Use a colon after an instruction or hint and its subsequent selection elements. The colon clearly indicates that the leading text belongs with the selection elements.
  6. Propose an appropriate value from the selection list in the visible field of a dropdown list as the default. If no suitable default value exists, display No <object> selected. Do not use an instruction in the visible field of a dropdown list but also do not leave the field empty.

Group of Selection Elements
