Grid Layout

Intro

SAP Fiori has embraced the new measuring system using the ‘rem’ unit, which stands for ‘root em’. A base size of 16 pixels defines 1 rem unit. The unit allows you to maintain consistent and predictable sizing and zooming in all browsers.

SAP Fiori UI elements are based on a 1 x 1 rem (16 x 16 px) flexible layout grid system that takes into account a comfortable touch area of 3 x 3 rem. The system is responsive and works across all touch devices. The touchable area can be larger than the UI element it relates to. Please always consider this when designing web apps that work on both desktop and mobile devices.

Responsive Grid

The responsive grid positions UI elements in a 12-column flow layout. It can be configured to display a variable number of columns depending on available screen size. With this control, it is possible to achieve flexible layouts and line breaks for large, medium, and small-sized screens, such as desktop, tablet, and mobile.
