Overview of App Types

Intro

This overview summarizes the main use case and the floorplan for each app type. Common patterns used by multiple app types (such as the “create” and “edit” flows) are briefly introduced, but the details are described in the respective articles.

Approval app
Approval app

The Approval app allows the user to quickly scan through a list of work items and take action. This app type has already been used in multiple occasions within SAP Fiori and it is well-established and mature.

The approval app is based on the split-screen layout and can also make use of all capabilities of the master list.

Master-Detail app
Master-Detail app

The Master-Detail app allows the user to quickly scan through a list of items and take action. The main actions are creating and editing of list items. This app type has already been used in multiple occasions within SAP Fiori and it is well-established and mature.

The master-detail app is based on the split-screen layout and also uses the master list.

Shopping app

The Shopping app enables users to browse through products, to collect them in a shopping cart and to order them. In general, it consists of three parts:

  • Product list (all products)
  • Shopping cart
  • Check out step(s)

Analysis Path Framework (APF) is a framework for creating interactive, chart-oriented analytical drilldown apps by configuration. APF-based apps enable the user to view and analyze the data of several key performance indicators (KPIs) from different data sources.
